Siberian Larch Edged Board
Siberian Larch (Larix sibirica) sawn timber is a premium structural and finishing lumber. Larch is the strongest and densest coniferous species in Russia: density 620–720 kg/m³, Brinell hardness 3.2, compressive strength 30–40% higher than pine. Gum, a natural antiseptic in the wood composition, provides resistance to rot, fungus, and insects without additional treatment. Durability class against biological hazards is 3 according to EN 350. In contact with water, larch does not decay but becomes denser. Typical cross-sections: thickness 25–50 mm, width 100–200 mm, length 2–6 m. Kiln-dried to 10–12% moisture content. Grading according to GOST 8486-86. Harvesting regions: Krasnoyarsk Krai, Irkutsk Oblast, Transbaikal. Applications: high-load floors, stairs, load-bearing structures, exterior facade cladding, piers, docks, bridges. The rich texture with dark heartwood is valued in interior design. The cost of larch board is 40–80% higher than pine, but its service life is 2–3 times longer: 25–30 years outdoors without treatment, up to 50 years with oil. In contact with water, larch densifies and acquires stone-like hardness (example: Venice piles made of larch have stood for over 500 years). Export documentation: phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin. Packaging: packs on spacers, strapped with tape, shrink-wrapped. Shipping: containers, railway platforms, road transport.
