Poplar & Aspen Lumber Blanks
Blanks made from poplar (Populus spp.) and aspen (Populus tremula) are lightweight deciduous lumber for specialized applications. Softwood species with a density of 380–450 kg/m³, odorless and resin-free. Aspen is moisture-resistant and traditionally used for saunas and baths: it does not burn when heated (low thermal conductivity) and does not release resin. White color with a slight greenish tint. Poplar is a lightweight, soft, easily workable wood. Applications: production of plywood, veneer, matchsticks, sticks, disposable wooden tableware, and packaging crates. Thickness 20–50 mm. GOST 2695-83. Aspen in the bath: aspen benches do not burn (thermal conductivity 0.17 W/(m·K) — lower than pine and spruce), do not release resin, are moisture-resistant, silver over time but do not rot. Traditional material of the Russian bath. Poplar: fast-growing species (growth 2–3 m/year), providing economical raw material for processing. Lightweight (380–420 kg/m³), soft (1.8 HB), easy to cut and plane. Plywood production: poplar veneer is used for the inner layers of birch plywood (reduces weight and cost). Export: China (match and plywood production), Middle East. Export documentation: phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin. Packaging: packs on spacers. Shipment: containers, road transport.
