Oilseed cake is a feed product obtained after the mechanical (press) extraction of oil from the seeds of oilseed plants. Unlike meal (extraction), cake contains a higher percentage of residual oil (5–10%), which increases its energy value for farm animals. Sunflower cake contains 30–35% protein and 7–10% fat. It is the main feed cake in Russia. Linseed cake contains 28–34% protein and is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. It improves the quality of wool and milk in cattle. Rapeseed cake contains 32–38% protein and has a good amino acid profile, serving as a source of methionine. Camelina cake, from the oilseed crop camelina (Camelina sativa), contains 30–35% protein and is rich in Omega-3.
