Multilayer barrier films — co-extruded or laminated structures of 2–9 layers for food packaging with enhanced shelf-life requirements. Typical structures: PET/PE (doy-pack, sachet), OPA/PE (vacuum for meat, cheese), PET/AL/PE (foil laminate — maximum barrier), PET/EVOH/PE (oxygen barrier without foil — transparent). EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer): OTR <0.5 cm³/m²/day — for Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP). Lamination: dry (adhesive) or solventless (extrusion lamination). Thickness 50–200 µm. Rotogravure printing up to 10 colors. Co-extrusion: multilayer extrusion through a single die (3–9 layers simultaneously) — cheaper than lamination, suitable for films with EVOH barrier. Dry lamination: adhesive bonding of pre-made films — for structures with aluminum foil, PET, OPA. Shelf life extension: proper barrier structure selection increases product shelf life by 2–5 times: meat 3→14 days, cheese 7→30 days, coffee 3→12 months. Documentation: TDS, OTR/WVTR protocol, TR TS 005/2011, migration tests.
