Corrugated cardboard boxes are the primary type of shipping packaging for packing and transporting goods. Russia produces over 6 billion m² of corrugated cardboard annually. Constructions are classified according to the FEFCO/ESBO catalog — an international standard for typical corrugated packaging designs. Corrugated cardboard: three-layer (profile B/C, thickness 3–4 mm, load capacity up to 15 kg), five-layer (profile BC/EB, 5–7 mm, up to 30 kg), seven-layer (for heavy industry). Profile B (2.5 mm): compact, for consumer packaging. C (3.5 mm): universal, balance of strength and volume. E (1.5 mm): micro-flute, for premium retail packaging. Flexographic printing: up to 6 colors, on corrugated cardboard or liner (pre-print). Offset lamination — for premium (photo, full-color). Die-cutting with a cutting die — for shaped constructions. GOST 9142-2014. Testing: BCT (Box Compression Test) — box compression strength. McKee formula: BCT = k × ECT × √(h × Z), where Z is the perimeter. Determines permissible stacking in a warehouse. Corrugated cardboard moisture content is critical: at 85% air humidity, BCT decreases by 50%. Storage: covered dry warehouses. Export packaging: ISPM 15 compliance not required (paper-based). Marking: EAN/GTIN barcode, handling symbols (ISO 780). Supply on EUR/FIN pallets with strapping tape.
