Bleached Hardwood Kraft Pulp (BHKP) is a short-fiber pulp (0.8–1.5 mm) derived from birch, aspen, and eucalyptus. Short fibers impart smoothness, whiteness, opacity, and uniform formation to paper—qualities essential for printing. It is used in blends with softwood pulp (30–70% hardwood + 30–70% softwood). Whiteness ≥88% ISO. ECF bleaching. Applications: office paper (A4), coated paper (base), tissue (softness), writing paper, notebook paper. In Russia, produced from birch (Arkhangelsk, Kotlas, Syktyvkar pulp mills). GOST 28172-89. Bales 200–250 kg. Hardwood pulp in Russia is produced primarily from birch (Betula pendula). Birch fibers (0.8–1.5 mm) are shorter than softwood fibers (2–4 mm) but provide better sheet formation and paper opacity. Manufacturers: Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill, Kotlas Pulp and Paper Mill, Syktyvkar Timber Processing Complex. Documentation: CoA, phytosanitary certificate. Bales 200–250 kg, wrapped in kraft paper.
