The Russian e-commerce market is experiencing a real boom. In 2025, Russia’s cross-border trade volume grew by 24%: the number of orders reached 209 million, while their total value amounted to 404 billion rubles. Considering that Russian products and goods are highly valued worldwide for their quality and eco-friendliness, demand for them is expected to continue growing. As a result, one of the key trends in Russian e-commerce is every manufacturer’s desire to get listed on marketplaces and secure a share of the market.
According to official data from the Association of Internet Trade Companies, Russia’s online retail market reached 11.5 trillion rubles in 2025, which is 28% higher than the previous year. According to an alternative estimate by the analytical agency Data Insight, the market was even larger, totaling 13.4 trillion rubles.
The largest players in Russian e-commerce are Ozon, Wildberries, Yandex Market, and Avito. While these marketplaces are rapidly gaining popularity among Russian consumers, not all of them are accessible to foreign buyers wishing to purchase goods from Russian manufacturers.
Ozon — The Most Accessible Russian Marketplace for Foreigners
Ozon is the largest Russian marketplace and is often compared to Amazon. It is also the platform where foreign buyers have the highest chances of successfully making purchases.
First, when registering on the platform, foreigners can use international phone numbers through SMS receiving services. Then, the buyer simply adds products to the cart and specifies either the address of a Russian pickup point or an international delivery address.
Since foreign bank cards generally do not work in Russia, Ozon Bank has started issuing debit cards for foreign citizens. Citizens of more than 90 countries can apply for the card, including China, Turkey, the UAE, all EAEU countries, and many others. To obtain the card, applicants need a passport and documents confirming legal stay in Russia. This makes Ozon the most accessible platform for foreigners visiting Russia or wishing to open an account remotely.
Additional advantages of Ozon include:
- An English-language interface and convenient personal account dashboard;
- The ability to pay with foreign cards through Ozon Bank;
- A relatively user-friendly experience for international customers.
However, buyers should keep in mind that not all products are available for international delivery.
Wildberries — Complicated Verification for Foreign Buyers
Another giant of Russian e-commerce is Wildberries. However, international purchases on the platform require verification through the Russian government portal “Gosuslugi.”
This verification is only available to buyers from EAEU countries such as Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan, where the process may be simplified.
Unfortunately, for buyers from China or other Asian countries, the process can be extremely difficult due to the requirement to verify identity through a Russian government service.
Yandex Market — A Powerful Platform With Major Restrictions
Yandex Market is not just a marketplace but a platform that aggregates multiple sellers and helps users find the best prices by comparing offers.
The company has launched delivery services for goods from foreign stores located in China, Turkey, South Korea, and EAEU countries.
However, there is one important limitation: to place an order on Yandex Market, the customer must be an adult Russian citizen. This makes the platform practically inaccessible for most foreign buyers who do not hold Russian citizenship.
Avito — Excellent for Finding Suppliers, but Not for Foreign Purchases
Avito is Russia’s largest classified ads platform and has recently started testing international product delivery. At the moment, only one country is supported — China.
Delivery from China via Russian Post is currently operating in test mode and is temporarily free of charge.
Unfortunately, the platform is not truly accessible for foreign buyers. Payments are usually made either in person upon meeting the seller or through Russian bank cards.
Nevertheless, Avito remains an excellent tool for finding suppliers in Russia.
As of today, foreign buyers can realistically order Russian goods only through Ozon and Wildberries.
What About Wholesale Buyers?
All of the marketplaces mentioned above are mainly suitable for individual purchases or small-volume orders. But what should wholesale buyers do? How can they find suppliers in Russia and work with large factories and manufacturers?
Option 1: Searching for Suppliers Through Avito
One option for finding Russian suppliers is Avito. The platform hosts a large number of manufacturers offering various goods and services. However, there are several important nuances for foreign buyers.
1. No Built-In Translation Tool
The platform does not have an integrated translator in the chat system, which becomes a serious obstacle even during initial negotiations.
In Russia, foreign language proficiency is relatively low, and using third-party online translators is not always convenient.
2. No International Payment System
There is no built-in payment solution for international buyers.
You will need to arrange for an intermediary with a Russian bank card. However, even this may not solve the issue if your agent cannot receive international transfers.
3. Risk of Fraud
There is also a possibility of encountering scammers on the platform. Buyers should carefully examine:
- The account history on Avito;
- Whether listings are outdated;
- Whether the phone number is verified;
- Company details and credentials;
- The existence of successfully completed transactions through Avito.
Option 2: Searching Through Yandex
Another option is Yandex Search, the most popular search engine in Russia, operating since 1997.
By entering relevant keywords into the search bar, buyers can find websites of manufacturers producing the required goods.
However, communication and establishing contact may still be difficult. Many Russian manufacturers rely only on official communication channels such as landline phone numbers and email addresses, which employees do not always check regularly.
As a result, it can be difficult to reach someone by phone or receive a response to an email inquiry.
A More Reliable Solution — The G2R Platform
There is, however, a much more reliable option that protects foreign wholesale buyers from unexpected risks — the G2R platform.
How G2R Helps Foreign Buyers Order Wholesale Goods From Russia
G2R is an excellent solution for foreign buyers looking to source products from Russia. The platform is not a marketplace. Instead, it is a digital environment designed for organizing and supporting trade and business transactions.
The platform simplifies:
- Supplier search;
- Deal management;
- Logistics;
- Customs clearance.
How the Platform Works
The platform features a catalog of product categories.
To submit a product sourcing request, a foreign buyer must first register on the platform as a buyer. Detailed registration instructions can be found in the article “How to Order Goods and Services on G2R.”
After registration, the buyer should:
- Select the required product category;
- Submit a sourcing request;
- A manager will contact the buyer to уточнить (clarify) all order details and requirements;
- The platform will organize supplier sourcing in Russia and CIS/EAEU countries;
- Assist with supplier payments;
- Handle all logistics tasks;
- Deliver the goods to the required city in China, Asia, or CIS countries.
G2R significantly simplifies international wholesale procurement from Russia by helping buyers overcome challenges related to communication, payments, logistics, and risk management.
